A constant state of being proportionate

I went a few weeks ago, when i started my doer-bringer-getter initial concept, and decided "Right, this wee guy is gonna be some sort of a humanoid shape." So i went and researched human proportions and came up with the following two sites. The first takes you to the wonderful land of numbers and ratios! I found it and thought "hmmm...this could be useful." So i jotted it down anyway and actually used some of the ratios for a few of my initial designs. Helped alot with getting the length of the arms and legs right to be honest.

The second wee link here is a website i found not long after the body proportions one and it made me reminisce of a time long gone. Back in my art class days we used to do this all the time for life drawing. All you artsy people out there already know what I'm talking about...at least I hope you do... Head lengths! Measure the head with your pencil and the generally accepted ratio is 7 to 7 and a half head lengths from head to toe. Really rather helpful when creating a humanoid robot. Which of the two methods did i use? I'm glad you asked! even if you weren't thinking it at all. I oped for the first one for the sole fact, I already had a rough idea of dimensions and the head was the last to be decided...bit hard to use head lengths when you don't have a dimension for a head! Also, head lengths can be, from my experiences anyway, inaccurate guesswork! I'd Rather work in the known, than the unknown.

After scouring the internet for any other developments I could find in eye prosthesis and I came across this pretty sweet little device. Called the Argus-II it is converts video signals to electrical impulses, which are transmitted wirelessly to electrodes implanted directly onto the retina. These electrodes are use the electrical impulses to selectively stimulate nerve endings on the retina that then create images in the brain. This is clear evidence that it is possible to convert signals from one form to an electrical impulse that is capable of stimulating nerve cells. This will be extremely useful for my design as i strive to convert video signals to impulses that will at the very least, restore partial sight to the user.

I am dedicating this section of the site to everything reflective. So that means two things...lots of rambling, and lots of referencing to cool stuff I find!  Anything I discover about emotion, whether it be a characters ability to engage the user emotionally, or the how inanimate objects have the capacity to make us feel a very wide range of emotions, it'll all go in here! For the references, it could be anything really...images, internet links, books, videos, journals, hell it really could be anything! Knowing me and my ability to ramble on about pretty much anything, this could be a long page. So I'll break things up into smaller sub-sections and give them all their own title! I'll try to keep things brief but that probably won't happen! So without further...oh by the way, I'll date every entry too so we have a record of when I ramble! So..aye...let's get this started!
